Intentional torts are acts one should reasonably foresee will result in harm to an individual. They include false imprisonment, fraud, assault and battery, property torts and defamation. The intentional tort of defamation may occur either through the spoken word, called slander, or the printed word, called libel. If you feel you have been wrongfully terminated from your employment and you believe that your former employer is maliciously spreading falsehoods about you to your future prospective employers, you should seek counsel to determine whether if you have a potential defamation claim against your former employer.
